This site, Deconstructing Expectation (https://deconstructing-expectation.com), is run by Nicolas. This page explains what information may be collected when you visit and how you can control it.
What we collect
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. This may include:
- Pages visited and approximate location (country/city level)
- Device and browser type
- Which tracks are played, paused, or completed (custom events we send to measure listening)
- Whether lyrics panels are opened
We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data. We do not knowingly collect your name or email through analytics — only if you email us directly.
Cookies
Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga to distinguish visits. These are only activated if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you decline, analytics storage stays disabled and we do not send listening events.
Your choices
On your first visit, you can accept or decline analytics. Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage) so the banner does not reappear every time. You can change your mind anytime via in the site footer.
Data retention
Google processes analytics data according to its own retention settings in our Google Analytics account. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google handles data.
Hosting
The site is served as static files. Our host may process server logs (such as IP address and requested URL) for security and operations. We do not combine those logs with analytics data.
